My book, Escape from Comfort: A Journey to Happiness, Desire, and Fulfillment, tells the full story with all the details.
The brutality of the Islamic regime in Iran.
The mountain crossing.
The time in Turkey.
The new home: Sweden
The bands and the labs.
The peak of success; and the false summit.
The cancer.
All of it.
But more than that, it's a roadmap. A framework that helps people to get unstuck and go far in life, no matter what is holding them back, so they can make the path that is right for them. Ultimately, this is a story about the vital importance of making the right choices.
As long as you're willing to escape from comfort.
Escape from Comfort is a powerful and deeply personal journey that reminds us of the courage it takes to leave behind what is safe but unfulfilling in order to pursue a life of purpose. Said Eshaghi’s story is raw, authentic, and inspiring—an invitation for each of us to examine where comfort may be holding us back and to take bold steps toward true fulfillment.
A Book That Meets You Where You Are And Doesn’t Let You Stay There. Reading Escape from Comfort by Said Eshaghi felt like having a brutally honest, inspiring conversation with a close friend, the kind that challenges you to confront your truth and rise to a higher standard. What I appreciate most about this book is that it’s not written from a pedestal. It’s raw, real, and deeply relatable. Said doesn’t just offer frameworks and mindset shifts, he brings you into his own journey. The stories are vulnerable, sometimes uncomfortable, and always honest. That authenticity makes every lesson hit harder and stick longer. Each chapter is a wake-up call. Whether it’s reframing discomfort, breaking free from comparison, or taking radical ownership of your life, Escape from Comfort reminds you that growth doesn’t come wrapped in convenience. It comes from choosing the harder path and becoming the version of yourself you know you’re meant to be. As someone lucky enough to call Said a friend, I’ve watched him live every word in these pages. This isn’t theory, it’s truth earned through experience. If you’re feeling stuck, coasting, or craving something deeper, Escape from Comfort is a must-read. But fair warning: it doesn’t let you stay asleep. It pulls you forward.
Escape from Comfort is a powerful reminder that every path worth walking comes with its own version of ‘hard.’ This story left me reflecting deeply on the resilience it takes to choose growth over ease, and the strength required to keep going when everything familiar is gone. Anyone facing a major life transition or questioning their ability to overcome obstacles needs to read this book—it’s both a reality check and a beacon of hope.
Escape from Comfort isn’t just a story about Said—it’s a story about choices, resilience, and victory. It’s not your usual coming-of-age tale or escape-from-Iran story. What makes it powerful is how it shows two people facing similar crossroads—yet ending up with very different outcomes. Said’s journey is about grit, daily decisions, and healing from the hardest parts of life. Reading it made me pause and reflect on my own choices, the mistakes, and the turning points that shaped who I am today. For young people, this book is a guide and a challenge. Every day, you face a world where right and wrong can feel blurry—where the battles aren’t with bombs, but with pressure, distractions, and tough choices. If you want a story that lights the way—showing how small choices today create big victories tomorrow—pick up this book. Read it, talk about it with your family, and let it spark the kind of courage we need right now.
Escape from Comfort is a powerful and moving memoir that left a deep impact on me. Said Eshaghi’s courage to embrace uncertainty, his family’s sacrifices, and his relentless pursuit of a better life are nothing short of inspiring. His story—escaping the dangers of Iran, navigating betrayal and obstacles, and building a new life in Sweden before excelling in academics and ultimately reinventing himself in sales and leadership—shows what it truly means to step out of comfort and live with no Plan B. As someone who transitioned from pharmacy into sales and leadership, I found myself deeply connected to his journey. Said’s authenticity, resilience, and vulnerability remind us that the dream is free, but the journey costs everything—and it’s worth it. This book is not only an inspiring memoir but also a roadmap for anyone who feels called to pursue a greater purpose beyond their comfort zone.
Escape from Comfort is a powerful and inspiring memoir that takes readers on a journey of resilience, determination, and personal growth. Said Eshaghi's story is a testament to the human spirit's ability to overcome adversity and find true fulfillment. This book is a great read for anyone seeking inspiration and motivation to pursue their dreams.
Reading this book was deeply inspiring—it felt like walking alongside Said, witnessing the courage, resilience, and determination that shaped his journey. Through both his personal struggles and his family’s story, the book delivers a powerful reminder that taking chances and embracing growth can transform a life. It is a journey for the soul, reminding us that true growth comes from stepping beyond our comfort.
𝘌𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵 stands out because it’s both a gripping story and a challenge to the reader. The early chapters—especially Said’s escape from Iran—are intense and hard to put down. But what stuck with me most is the underlying message about purpose. This line captures it well: “𝘌𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘴𝘦𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘳 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘨𝘰 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬. 𝘐𝘯 𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯 𝘉.” That idea hits. It forces you to think about where you might be settling for comfort instead of stepping into what you’re actually called to do. It’s not a niche book—it’s broader than that. But for anyone thinking seriously about direction, purpose, or making a hard change, it lands. Simple, honest, and worth your time.
It’s never easy, but I believe we owe it to ourselves—and to God—to make our days here truly count. Escape from Comfort is a powerful reminder that even when life’s journey leads us down unexpected paths, hope and growth are still within our reach. Said Eshaghi beautifully shows that by nurturing hope, daring to stretch beyond our limits, building trust, showing compassion for others and ourselves, and silencing self-doubt, we equip ourselves not only to dream big but to make those dreams a reality. This book is uplifting, a call to embrace discomfort as a gateway to purpose, fulfillment, and making a meaningful difference in the world.
Escape from Comfort is not just a book, it is a powerful testament to the resilience, courage, and relentless pursuit of purpose embodied by Dr. Said Eshaghi. His story is one that moves the heart, stretches the mind, and awakens the human spirit. This book challenged me, encouraged me, and reminded me that comfort is the enemy of growth. Dr. Eshaghi’s life stands as evidence that fulfillment is found not in safety, but in courage… not in ease, but in perseverance… not in the familiar, but in stepping boldly into what God has placed before us. Escape from Comfort is a beautifully written journey of resilience, identity, reinvention, and hope. Dr. Said Eshaghi’s story is a gift, one that will inspire countless readers to rise, grow, and live with greater purpose.
Having partly grown up in Turkey and sharing a background in the sciences, the part of Said Eshaghi's story that resonated most deeply with me was his 11-month limbo as a teenage refugee in Turkey. He perfectly captures the scary reality of being an outsider, and I related strongly to the years of grueling academic work required to succeed in science. However, what sets Escape from Comfort apart from typical success memoirs is how remarkably honest the author is about his failures. Eshaghi avoids the trap of tying his journey up with a perfect bow. Instead, he is refreshingly transparent about how his hard-won success cultivated a damaging sense of pride and a feeling that he was owed certain things. He freely admits that reaching the apex of his career felt like a hollow victory because he had abandoned his core motivations in favor of going after status and money. It is incredibly brave of him to expose how this arrogance left him susceptible to losing everything in a manipulative, fraudulent business scheme. Reading Eshaghi’s various accounts, we learn that true transformation isn't just about moving away from difficult times; it demands proactively leaving safe spaces to foster deliberate self-improvement. The FAR Framework (Focus, Awareness, Reflection) that he introduces is very helpful in this regard. Rather than just offering generic motivational advice, the book provides actionable methods to purposely design a fulfilling life, ensuring you don't just rely on good fortune to carry you there. I highly recommend this book to a wide audience; successful people who still feel a sense of emptiness, workers looking to pivot their trajectory, individuals starting over in unfamiliar countries, and those battling severe illnesses or professional ruin will all find deep value in its lessons.
I read the Escape from Comfort none stop. Said’s journey through his challenging life pulled me through deeply personal moments without slowing down. Said as a young boy had faced immense hardships before eventually becoming a man who he is now. His migration journey, challenges, dangers and emotions are stories that many who has struggled through life can relate to. Said has written about the process of lost identity, learning a new language and confronting with discrimination so righteously that one could learn and feel the atmosphere , history and the mixture of middle eastern and European culture. His story is about resilience, hope, and ambition and overcoming adversity. I particularly liked his use of quotations throughout the book, my favorite was Wayne Dyer’s “ if you change the way you look at things, the things you look at will change.” I highly recommend this book to anyone who believes in change and perusing the inner voice.
I read this book in two days and cannot recommend it enough. This book is the quintessential story of the American dream. A man who threw himself out of his comfort zone multiple times to provide for himself and his loved ones. This book is also an inspirational story that shows how persistence and consistency are two things that will help you accomplish anything alongside work ethic. Finally it is a love story that shows how when you find your rock, no storm can shake you from port and the peace afterward is the real reward. This book shows that love does still exist in the world, you just have to find it for yourself. If you are at a crossroad in your life where you can't quite see which direction is best, use this book as a guide to lead you to make the decision.
It is difficult to articulate just how compelling and engaging the story of Said's journey was. While many of his experiences are not relatable to most people, he has a unique gift for making it easy to apply his thoughts and emotions to your own circumstances. Although the author and I differ in most ways (age, gender, ethnicity, career, etc.), while reading his story, I felt like I understood him in a deeply impactful way. I could not recommend this book more. Thank you for sharing your story.
I didn’t read this book as someone just looking to “grow.” I read it as someone who knows what it feels like to lose, to rebuild, and to question everything you thought was certain. Escape from Comfort hit me in a quieter, deeper way than I expected. Because comfort… isn’t always soft. Sometimes it’s where we hide after life breaks us. Sometimes it’s what we cling to just to get through the day. And what Said does so well in this book is gently hold up a mirror to that—without judgment. There were moments where I felt seen in the staying… and then slowly invited into something more. Not pressure. Not force. Just truth. That there is still life beyond survival. That meaning doesn’t disappear just because something (or someone) did. That we’re allowed to move forward without leaving ourselves behind. This isn’t a loud, push-you-off-the-edge kind of book. It’s the kind that sits with you… and then, over time, nudges you forward. And if you’ve been living in that space between “I’m okay” and “I know there’s more”… this book will meet you there.
As a high achiever, I picked up Escape from Comfort expecting an inspiring story. What I didn’t expect was to see so much of myself in its pages. Said Eshaghi writes with a rare honesty about the tension that many driven people eventually face; reaching a level of success and then quietly asking, “Is this it? Is this what I was built for?” That question hit close to home. What makes this book exceptional is how Said unpacks the forces that quietly pull us off course; ego, circumstance, and the version of life we fall into rather than choose. He doesn’t just name these distractions; he shows what it looks like to confront them and find your way back to purpose. The contrast between his own journey and that of his brother, is one of the most powerful threads in the book. Same starting point, different awareness, very different outcomes. Escape from Comfort is a timely reminder that success is a milestone, not a destination. Significance is what we’re really after, and getting there requires the kind of self-awareness most of us spend years avoiding. Highly recommend this one, especially if you’ve ever achieved something great and still felt like something was missing.
I picked up Escape From Comfort expecting a survival story but it turned into something much deeper and beneficial. Said’s journey from escaping Iran at 15, crossing dangerous mountains, and living as a refugee is gripping on its own. But what really hit me was what came after. His rise to success, and then the realization that achievement without purpose can feel empty. The concept of the “false summit” and the FAR framework (Focus, Awareness, Reflection) really stuck with me. It’s not just inspiring, it actually gives you a way to think about your own growth and decisions. What makes this book stand out is how honest it is. He doesn’t just share wins, he talks about ego, failure, bad decisions, and even battling cancer. That vulnerability makes the lessons feel real and earned. If you like true stories that read like thrillers and leave a lasting impact, this book is absolutely worth it. And if you’re someone who’s chasing success, feeling stuck, or questioning what’s next, this book will resonate!
Escape from Comfort: A Journey from Survival is a powerful reminder that growth never happens in the familiar. The book challenges the reader to confront the habits, fears, and mindsets that keep them stuck in survival mode. Through honest storytelling and practical insight, it pushes you to step into discomfort—not as something to avoid, but as the very place where transformation begins. What stands out most is the author’s raw authenticity. Their journey of surviving—and ultimately escaping—a corrupt and oppressive regime that showed little regard for human life adds depth and credibility to every lesson shared. It’s not just theory; it’s lived experience. This is more than a story—it’s a call to courage. A compelling read for anyone ready to break free from limitation and pursue a life of purpose.
Escape from Comfort is a powerful and thought-provoking read that stayed with me long after I finished it. What I appreciated most was how Said Eshaghi shares not just his successes, but the mindset behind them. His story is both adventurous and deeply self-motivating, and it challenged me to reflect on how often we either lean into growth or avoid it. What really stood out is that the journey doesn’t end with success. Even after achieving so much, he openly shares the continued challenges and “hiccups” that come along the way. It’s a refreshing reminder that no matter how far we go, growth is ongoing. This book reinforces that success isn’t about arriving; it’s about continuing to choose purpose, especially when it’s uncomfortable.
Such a cool story, and one that I will share with my children. It's super entertaining but also packed with life lessons. I love a book that does both.
This book will take you on an emotional journey, and it won’t leave you disappointed. Said’s story of resilience and courage is both powerful and deeply moving. It will inspire you, but it will also gently challenge you to reflect on your own personal journey. As I read, I found myself sitting with some deep, pointed questions about my own purpose. It stirred something in me and led me to ask, “Am I truly living in the fullness of what I know I’m called to do?” This isn’t just a story you read—it’s one you feel. And if you let it, it will call you higher.
I don't usually stop to write reviews, but I just couldn't stay quiet about this book. Being an immigrant myself, Said's story felt familiar in a way that's hard to explain. Not because our journeys are the same, but because that feeling of starting over in a place that doesn't quite feel like yours yet. I know that. I've lived that more than once. I wasn't expecting, Said's vulnerability. He doesn't just share his wins. He gets honest about the beliefs that sabotaged him, the mistakes he made at the peak of his success, and the moment everything fell apart. That kind of honesty is rare. And it is beautiful. So many people write books about success but skip the messy middle. Said lives in the messy middle with you. And that makes all the difference. His FAR Framework — Focus, Awareness, Reflection — comes straight from his own lived experience, and you can feel that on every page. It doesn't feel like advice. It feels like a conversation with someone who genuinely wants to see you make it. If you are an immigrant, if you are going through a hard season, or if you just need someone real to remind you that growth is still possible — this book is for you. Said, thank you for being so open. Your story matters more than you know. 🙏
